Mauricio Pochettino was delighted with his team’s 1-0 victory over Watford, as they closed the gap on league leaders Leicester to five points.
Spurs dominated against Watford, with only ex-Spurs goalkeeper Heurehlo Gomes keeping Watford in the game. However, he could do nothing to stop Kieran Trippier tapping home at the far post from a Dele Alli cross.
Speaking to the BBC after the game, Pochettino said:
“I feel very proud of the players.”
“We need to be calm. We are in a very good position in the league but the philosophy from the beginning of the season has been to go step by step.”

Pochettino also spoke about the importance of keeping the momentum his side has built up going, as well as the need for his side to be more clinical as they registered 26 shots on goal, but only scored once.
Pochettino said:
“We are a very young squad so it is important to keep going and take every game and competition and be ready to compete.”
“We still need to be more clinical, we created a lot of chances but need to score more.”
Pochettino’s attention now focuses on next week’s game against Manchester City, which could make or break Tottenham’s title challenge.
