Mauricio Pochettino was full of praise for his side after they overcame Fiorentina 3-0 at White Hart Lane, saying that they ‘fully deserved the result’.
Spurs were impressive throughout, as Ryan Mason gave them the lead after 25 minutes after being played through on goal by Dele Alli. In truth, Spurs were in control throughout and eventually tightened their grip on the tie when Erik Lamela fired home after Nacer Chadli’s shot was parried int the penalty area.
Tottenham eventually secured victory and passage to the last 16, when Fiorentina captain Rodriguez turned the ball into his own net.

Speaking after the game to the BBC, Pochettino said:
“I’m very pleased, we showed character and played very well against a team that play very well.
“We fully deserve the result, I’m very pleased with the performance.”
Pochettino also spoke about his team’s return to Premier League action, as they face Swansea at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
He said:
“Now we need to recover because the competition never stops and we need to be ready for the next game against Swansea on Sunday.
“I think we have a big motivation in the Premier League and now we have two competitions. We are in a good position in the table, I think the motivation is fantastic.”
