Tottenham’s title challenge faltered on Wednesday night, as they were beaten by West Ham United at Upton Park thanks to a Michael Antonio header early in the first half.
West Ham dominated proceedings throughout the first 45 minutes, with Michael Antonio powering a header past Hugo Lloris in the 7th minute to give the Hammers the lead.
Spurs failed to create any chances of note in the opening period, as they struggled to cope with the absence of Dele Alli (who was on the substitutes bench) and Mousa Dembele and the work rate of Slaven Bilic’s team.
After the half time interval, Spurs did began to create more chances going forward and should have scored twice were it not for Harry Kane making a mess of both attempts on goal.
However, despite the additions of Alli, Son and Carroll in the first half as Mauricio Pochettino looked for a route back into the game, West Ham held firm for a deserved 1-0 victory.
