Tottenham returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over the bottom side in the Premier League, Aston Villa, despite a less than convincing performance.
Spurs needed to return to form after losing to West Ham and drawing against 10 man Arsenal and two goals from Harry Kane ensured they did just that.
Pochettino’s men ended the first-half 1-0 up, after Harry Kane finished past Brad Guzan in the dying moments of the first half, after Dele Alli had played a through ball from a free kick that Spurs had taken quickly.
However, Kane should have bagged more than one goal in the first half, as he hit the bar within the early moments of the game and failed to beat Guzan numerous times when in on goal.

He would however, make amends early on in the second half, when he bundled the ball past Guzan from inside of the penalty area to put Spurs into a 2-0 lead.
The second goal saw Spurs retreat back into playing possession football and it nearly cost them when Villa fought back late in the second half. The first chance fell to Gestede who fortunately struck his effort against the crossbar when it looked easier to score.
The second chance came in the 90th minute, when Lescott volleyed wide after Gestede’s flick on. Fortunately however, Spurs held on and secured their first Premier League victory in three games and put themselves back on track in the title race.
