Despite suffering a heavy aggregate loss to Dortmund, which sent Spurs crashing out of the Europa League, Mauricio Pochettino stressed the importance of taking the positives from a performance which was better than the showing Spurs put up in Germany last week.
With Spurs suffering a heavy 3-0 defeat last Thursday, it was almost impossible for the Lilywhites to qualify for the quarter-finals, but they did at least put in an improved performance in front of a home crowd.

However, despite Son’s late goal, Spurs still were beaten by Dortmund as Aubameyang showed his class for the visitors with two very well taken goals.
Speaking after the game, to BBC Sport , Pochettino said:
“I’m very disappointed we’re out of the Europa League but we need to recognise we played against a very good team who are playing at a Champions League level. Borussia Dortmund is one of the best teams in Europe.
“I think we improved a lot, learned a lot from last week in Germany. We competed and we need to take positives.
“We have a lot of young players that need to feel what it means to compete in Europe and I think for the team it was a good test and we can take positive things.”
With Spurs now out of the Europa League, they can concentrate all of their resources on attempting to claw back the deficit to league leaders Leicester City. Spurs face Bournemouth at White Hart Lane in their next game on Sunday.
