Son red card wiped after Gomes incident

Tottenham forward Heung-Min Son’s red card has been overturned and the South Korean will be available for Tottenham’s next three domestic matches.

The red card was handed to Son after a tackle on Everton midfielder Andre Gomes which resulted in the Portuguese international suffering a horrific injury when he collided with Serge Aurier. Son was sent off for ‘endangering his opponent’.

Many fans complained about the decision, claiming Son was innocent. Andre Gomes suffered a fractured dislocation to his right ankle, and has successfully undergone surgery. The midfielder is expected to be out of action for the majority of the season.

Son, amongst other players, appeared to be distraught at the sight of Gomes’ injury. Everton striker Cenk Tosun has revealed players were in tears in the dressing room.

The game went on to finish 1-1, after an Everton equaliser came in the 7th minute of added time when Tosun hit the net after an assist from Lucas Digne.
