  • Tottenham Hotspur need at least a point against Everton to confirm safety
  • De Zerbi’s side have their destiny in their own hands
  • Lilywhites need to match or better West Ham’s result against

Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League relegation fate is set to be decided on the final day of the season against Everton.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side are two points clear of 18th-placed West Ham United and have their destiny in their own hands.

However, they will be kicking themselves after losing to Chelsea, as a point at Stamford Bridge would have put them within touching distance of safety, barring a huge swing in goal difference.

Nevertheless, Sunday is going to be an anxious watch for the Tottenham faithful.

And now, an Opta Supercomputer has revealed its exact chances of avoiding the drop.

Tottenham Hotspur favourites to avoid relegation

With every Premier League game set to kick off at the same time, Tottenham will face Everton at home, while West Ham host Leeds at the London Stadium.

The Lilywhites faithful will surely be glued to their phones in the stands to keep one eye on the Hammers’ result, so it goes without saying that the atmosphere in North London is going to be tense.

However, Tottenham fans can breathe easy after seeing their exact survival chances, as predicted by Opta’s supercomputer.

  • 50.4% chance of beating Everton
  • 26.8% chance of losing to Everton
  • 22.8% of a draw

Based on the aforementioned numbers, they have a 73% chance of walking away with at least a point, which would be enough for them to avoid relegation regardless of West Ham’s result.

Only one of nine possibilities involving Tottenham and West Ham can see the Lilywhites suffer relegation, which is them losing to Everton while West Ham beat Leeds.

Most important game in Tottenham’s history

Today marks one year since that iconic day in Bilbao when Tottenham beat Manchester United in the final to win the UEFA Europa League under Ange Postecoglou.

Since then, whatever can go wrong has gone wrong. Postecoglou, Frank, and Igor Tudor have been sacked, which has led to them sleepwalking into a relegation battle.

However, De Zerbi’s arrival has breathed new life into the club and they still have their destiny in their hands, which is the only thing that matters at this stage.

All they need to do is get a point against Everton, but their home form has been horrific this season, so it’s easier said than done.

Sunday’s game is going to be an absolutely gruelling watch for everyone associated with the club; that much is clear.
