What Rodrigo Bentancur did immediately after final whistle blew during Wolves vs Tottenham

At a glance:

  • Bentancur ran to celebrate with Kinsky
  • Czech goalkeeper made outstanding last-gasp save
  • Tottenham still in relegation zone

Rodrigo Bentancur’s return to the team has given Tottenham a lot of quality in the centre of the park.

He delivered another fantastic performance against Wolves as they finally got their first Premier League win of 2026.

Bentancur was out with a hamstring injury for two months but returned to action against Brighton last week.

However, he wasn’t Tottenham’s hero against Wolves.

Bentancur embraced Kinsky for Tottenham heroics

After that night in Madrid, it looked like Antonin Kinsky wouldn’t feature again for Tottenham this season.

Starting in place of Guglielmo Vicario, he gave away two goals against Atletico and was substituted with just 17 minutes played on the clock.

However, with Vicario out with a hernia problem, Kinsky has started Tottenham’s last three games under De Zerbi.

And he made two brilliant saves to give his side all three points. After clearing the ball away from Stuart Armstrong, Kinsky was called into action late in the game.

Joao Gomes struck a good free-kick, but he reacted well to save the ball as the Tottenham players celebrated like they’d scored.

And after the full-time whistle, Bentancur ran to the Tottenham goalie to make sure he played a big part in securing three priceless points.

Tottenham’s goalkeeping conundrum

With Vicario expected to return this week, it remains to be seen what De Zerbi does between the sticks.

Kinsky has been in fantastic form over the past three games and has firmly put his horror night in Madrid behind him.

However, Vicario is Tottenham’s first-choice goalkeeper and is a big personality, which could be vital between now and the end of the season.

After the game, De Zerbi lauded Kinsky, adding that he was crucial to the result against Wolves.

“He deserves this day, because he played very well today,” said De Zerbi in his press conference.

“Especially today, he was crucial for the result. He deserves everything because he’s a good guy, he’s a good keeper. Especially after Madrid, he deserves one day like today.”

Now, with Vicario set to return, what does De Zerbi do? Our best guess is that the Italian will take his place back immediately, but we’ll have to wait and see.
